MOA of diltiazem

Inhibits calcium influx of Ca2+ into cardiac myocytes and arterial smooth muscle. Slows cardiac action potential and causes some loss of vascular tone.

• Hypertension
• VT/VF from coronary artery spasm

• 12.5 to 25 mg IV/IO in adults

• SA or AV nodal conduction disturbances suck as sick sinus syndrome or AV block
• Hypotension, unless secondary to tachycardia
• Bradycardia.
• Known poor ventricular function
• V-tach not secondary to coronary artery spasm
• A-fib or a-flutter associated with WPW or LGL
