Inspect perianal area for tears, fissures, skin changes

Place finger on anal margin Wait for sphincter to relax Palpate anterior rectal wall Feel prostate gland and assess size Palpate two lobes and lateral sulcus Note surface texture (smooth, craggy) and consistency (soft, firm) Note any tenderness Feel for nodules, swellings
