digital imagining, dental film & processjng radiographs Flashcards
automatic processor
-automates all film processing steps
beam alignment device
-assist in positions of the PID in relation to tooth and film or sensor
bitewing
-
calcium tungstate
-A common type of phosphor which produces a blue light
cassette
-plastic or metal case that is used to hold the film and protect it from exposure to light also holds the film in tight contact with the intensifying screen
cephalometric film
-shows the bony and soft tissue areas of the facial profile
charge-coupled device (CCD) DIGITAL IMAGING
-most commonly used digital receptor
used in telescopes fax video camera
has a cable connected directly from the sensor to the computer
use radio frequency transmission to instantly transmit the image to the computer via image waves
digital image/radiograph
-electronic signals captured by sensors and displayed on a computer screen almost ASAP
(what we email out)
digitized
desktop scanner captures the light of signal off whatever’s placed inside them
duplicating film
used only in a dark room setting it is never exposed to x-rays
sensitive to light and has emulsion on one side only
extraoral film
-placed outside the mouth during x-ray exposure used to examen large areas of head or draw including panoramic or cephalometric films
film speed
-The amount of radiation that is required to produce a radiograph of standard density (darkness )
determines how much exposure time is required to produce the image on the film
intensifying screen
-A device that intensifies or increases the effect of radiation in those decreases the amount of exposure time needed
intraoral film
-semi-flexible acetate film base that is coated on both sides with an emulation of silver bromide, silver halide, and silver iodide that is sensitive to radiation
film placed inside the mouth used to exam in the teeth in supporting structures
label side
-The side that has a flap that is used to open the film packet before processing. The label side is the color-coded side that is used to identify films
