A

Contractions help to churn food into chyme. It kills the bacteria here too with the stomach acids.

Pancreas

A

Secretes hormones to control glucose levels in the blood. After eating, there is an excess amount of glucose. This gets converted into glycogen in the liver. If there is a lack of glucose in the blood, the glycogen will be converted glucose.

Produces a liquid(bile) stored in gall bladder. This is bile helps break down fat.

Small intestine

A

The food is moved quick here. Glands in the ileum here produce more enzymes to break down food. Smaller molecules are transported through the walls and into the bloodstream. This process is called emulsification.

Large intestine

A

It is made up of appendix, colon and rectum. All of the indigestible food and water remains after reaching the colon. Water is absorbed into the blood and the indigestible food becomes more solid. The ‘solid’ food moves into the rectum and eventually out of the body through the body.
