To chew food to make it easier to swallow it is then mixed with saliva that starts the break down of starches and also makes food easier to swallow
peristalsis
the contraction and relaxing of the muscles throughout the digestive track that helps move and break down food
oesophagus
pushes the food down to the stomach with peristalsis
stomach
the stomach churns food with peristalsis produces acids to break down food
small intestine
absorbs the parts needed from the food into the body
large intestine
main job to absorb water out of the food
rectum
The rectum is the last straight section of the large intestine.

The anus is the opening at the lower end of the digestive tract that controls the expulsion of faces. disposal of waste
