Function of Small intestine
Absorbs digested food and water like glucose ,fatty accids, glycerol and amino acids.
What is a villi?
a finger shaped cell that has a folded top that forms microvilli.
What is a villus?
one of millions of tiny projection un the intestine
What does a lacteal do?
Absorbs digested fats
Function of Mouth
Food and drinks are ingested through the mouth.
What is the function of salivitary glands?
produces saliva that contains amalyase.
What does amalyase do?
It is involved in breaking starch into maltose
What is the function of the oesophagus
It has no digestive function however its important to move food from the mouth to the stomach
What is a peritalasis
Movement along the walls of the canal, also contraction and relaxation of longitudinal and circular muscles
Function of a Stomach
stomach produces and contains hydrochloric acid that kills microorganisms germs and maintains optimum ph for enzymes.
Function of a pancreas?
produces pancreatic juice that contains sodium hydrogen carbonate, and enzymes like lipase portease and amalyase.
What does the liver and gal bladder do?
the liver produces bile and the gal bladder stores bile
What does a bile contain
it contains bile salts which emulsifies fats and breaks them into smaller drops
Function of Large intestine
Undigested food move through the large intestine where salt and water is absorbed.
What does ingestion mean?
ingestion means taking substances in the body
