What is Ingestion?
The taking in of nutrients
What is Digestion?
Breakdown of complex organic molecules (nutrients).
What is absorption?
The transport of digested nutrients into cells.
What is egestion?
The removal/exretion of bodily waste.
The two types of digestion?
Physical and chemical digestion.
What is physical digestion?
Mechanical breakdown of food into smaller pieces.
What is chemical digestion?
Enzymes in the body increase chemical reactions which in turn breaks down food.
