what is the structure of the stomach ?
A
- continuous with oesophagus and duodenum
- in the abdominal cavity, just below the diaphragm
- muscular walls and gastric pits
- secretes HCl and protease

what is the function of the stomach ?
A
- churn the food in mechanical digestion
- HCl kills any bacteria that is ingested
- optimum pH for protease which starts protein digestion (pH 2)
