Diffusion, osmosis and active transport + biological molecules Flashcards
What is diffusion?
Diffusion is the spread of particles from a high concentration to a low concentration
What is osmosis?
Osmosis is movement of water from a region of high water concentration to a low water concentration through a semi permeable membrane.
What is active transport?
The movement of particles from a low concentration to a higher concentration USING ENERGY
How can cells adapt to make diffusion easier?
They can have a larger surface area
Describe an experiment you can do for diffusion
Get a glass of water and put some food colouring in it and watch it diffuse throughout the glass
