What is a softwood?
Softwood is a type of wood that is cut from trees belonging to coniferous trees. Softwood trees, such as pine, cedar, spruce, larch and fir, retain their leaves throughout the year and grow faster than hardwood. They can grow up to 20-25 years.
What is a Hardwood (deciduous)?
They are found from deciduous trees in cold climate and take around 80-100 years to fully grow.
What is a man-made (manufactured) wood?
It is a cheap and durable, widely available
How can you sort and know the difference between hard and soft woods?
You can tell the diference from the diferent leaves, seeds and the structre of the tree.

What is a coniferous softwood tree?
It is a tree that is usually soft and they often grow in a cooler climate like Canada. An example of a wood being used in it is pine or spruce.
What is a deciduous (hardwood) tree?
It is a tree that loses its leaves in winter, they can be very expensive and tend to have a lighter grain. It can take 100 years to fully grow. An example of a wood being used is oak or ash.
