What are the different fibre types?
Oxidative is type one.
Fast oxidative, glycolytic is type 2A
Fast glycolytic is type 2B
What is type one oxidative?
These are endurance fibres. For example, a marathon runner would be most abundant in oxidative muscle fibres.
What is type 2A fast oxidative glycolytic?
This is speed endurance fibre for example, a relay runner would be most abundant with this. This is the middle of the two neither one extreme to the other.
What is type 2b fast glycolytic?
This is speed and power fiver. For example, a sprinter would be most abundant with this muscle fibre.
What are the three types fibre size and neuron size?
Oxidative has small, fibre size and small neuron size.
Fast oxidative glycolytic has intermediate fibre size and intermediate neuron size.
Fast glycolytic has large, fibre size and large neuron size.
For each muscular fibre, how many calories are there?
Oxidative and fast oxidative glycolytic. There is many capillaries as the exercise using these muscle fibres is likely to be aerobic which needs oxygen.
Whereas fast glycolytic would have few capillaries, as mainly using these muscular fibres would be anaerobic respiration and so little oxygen is needed if any so that doesn’t need to be any supply of oxygen to those muscle fibres.
Likewise, what is the likely number of mitochondria?
There is many mitochondria in both oxidative and fast oxidative glycolytic, as these are both more endurance based, and will need more mitochondria to help carry on going for longer. Whereas fats glycolytic will have fewer mitochondria as they won’t be needing them for as long because that’s glycolytic will be for a short period of time.
What does the myoglobin content look like?
In both oxidative and fast oxidative glycolytic, the myoglobin content is high. However, in fast glycolytic of my globin content is low.
An obvious one, what does the glycogen stores look like?
Oxidative its high fast oxidative, glycolytic, it’s intermediate and fast glycolytic is low.
What are the PC stores like in muscle fibres?
In oxidative its low in the fast oxidative glycolytic, it’s intermediate, and in fast glycolytic it’s a high.
What are the speed of contraction?
For slow oxidative, the speed of contraction is slow for fast oxidative glycolytic. The speed of contraction is fast for fast glycolytic the speed of contraction is fast.
What is the status with the force of contraction?
The force of contraction for slow oxidative is low for fast oxidative glycolytic. It is high and for fast glycolytic it is high.
What is the rate of fatigue?
For slow oxidative, it is slow. The rate of fatigue for fast oxidative glycolytic is intermediate and for fast glycolytic. It is fast.
Are they anaerobic or aerobic?
Slow oxidative is aerobic, fast oxidative glycolytic is both anaerobic and aerobic and fast glycolytic is anaerobic.
What is the recovery rate for each muscle?
For slow oxidative, it is slow for fast oxidative glycolytic it is intermediate and for fast glycolytic it is fast.
