Due to the lack of balance between the remineralisation and demineralisation of enamel
If too much demineralisation of enamel occurs then it can lead to porosities in the enamel leading to caries

Is the irreversible loss of dental health tissue due to a chemical process of acid dissolution not involving bacterial plaque acid and not associated with mechanical or traumatic factors or with dental caries
