Q

What is bacteria’s other name; its size, shape, structure and how does it reproduce?

A

Bacteria is also known as prokaryotes; because it has no nucleus. Its size is 1/1000 mm, its shape can consist of spherical, rod shaped or comma shaped and its structure is a single cell organism with no nucleus. Bacteria reproduces very quickly by multiplying itself.

Q

What is the size, shape and structure of viruses and how does it reproduce?

A

The size of viruses is 1/1,000,000 mm and its shapes consists of regular and geometric shapes. Its structure is a simple organism which doesn’t display all the characteristics of a living thing. They are made up of a protein coating and some genetic material. A virus can only reproduce within other living things and grow there.

Q

What is the size, shape and structure of fungi and how does it reproduce?

A

Fungi can actually be seen with the naked eye and some are bigger than bacteria cells. It comes in many different shapes and fungi has the most complex structure out of all the microbes. It feeds off other living things.

Q

What is the uses of fungi?

A

Fungi can make penicillium (pain killer). Yeast is a type of fungus that carries out respiration, this allows it to be used in different ways in baking and brewing. Its respiration is aerobic respiration. The yeast respires without oxygen and produces ethanol, this process is called fermentation.

Q

How can the spread of disease be stopped?
