Acute diarrhoea treatment
Rehydration with oral rehydration solution should be sufficient.
For adults: short course of antidiarrheal can be used for symptom control
Chronic Diarrhoea treatment
Pharmacological therapy should be used under specialist supervision.
Pharmacological therapy
Loperamide, Diphenoxylate + atropine.
Gastrostop how to take?
Take 2 capsules with water initially, followed by 1 capsules with water after each loose bowel motion as needed. Do not take more than 8 capsules per day. Can be taken with or without food. If symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, seek medical advice from your doctor.

Pregnancy: 1-2 doses are safe, short time use safe for first trimester
Breastfeeding: Short-term safe will need to monitor the baby

Non-pharmacologic therapy
Rehydrate with oral rehydration solution
Increase intake of starchy food
Practice good hand hygiene
Limit intake of fatty, sweet or spicy food
Avoid caffeine, alcohol and drinks with high sugar content
Exclude children with diarrhoea from childcare centers and preschool
Medication that causes diarrhoea
