Airway Bones Cardiac silhouette Diaphragm Edge of heart Field of lungs Gastric bubble Hila Instruments
CXR Views
AP view: More difficult to read and usually meant for bedridden patients
PA view
Lateral view
Decubitus: To distinguish from pleural effusions and pneumonia
Lordotic: Visualize the apex of the lung
VQ Scan
Uses scintigraph and medical isotopes to evaluate the blood vessels of the lung in order to determine the ventilation/perfusion ratio to identify a *pulmonary embolus
Ventilation phase: Looks at the ability of air to reach all parts of the lung
Perfusion phase: Evaluates how well the blood circulates within the lung
MRI Clinical Indications
Excellent for chest wall tumors, wall infections, diaphragmatic extension of intrathoracic masses
Demonstrate vascular supply of tumors
