• Briefly describe the great breakthrough in understanding diabetes (~4:30-6:00). How did that hormone explain the relationship between obesity and diabetes?

A

o Discovered that the pancreas played a role in diabetes – produces insulin – primary regulator of the bodys blood sugar – also the fat storage hormone
o Connection corroborated by the recognition that obesity and diabetes endemics grew in correlation
o Stronger in patients with type II – mostly diabetes due to weight gain etc
