Parenthesis
Used to insert additional information or an aside into the main flow of information.
A word, phrase or whole sentence is inserted in the middle of another sentence.
Set off by parentheses, commas, or em dashes.
Metabasis
Summarizing the body of work that has come before so that you can move on to a new point
Apostrophe
Breaking out of the writing flow to directly address a person or personified object
Enumeratio
Supplying a list of details about something, usually to expand on a central idea by enumerating it’s many details
Antanagoge
Ordering points in a sentence to downplay the negative
Epithet
An adjective or adjective phrase appropriately qualifying a noun by naming a key or important characteristic of the subject
“Her laughing smile…”
