What is DDH ?
Abnormal development of the hip.
What can DDH lead to ?
1) Subluxation
2) Dislocation
3) Dysplasia (means abnormal cell development)
WHAT DO WE CHECK FOR WHEN ASSESING FOR DDH ?
1) SYMETTRY
2)SHENTONS LINES
WHAT DO THE FEMORAL HEADS LOOK LIKE IN DDH ?
ITS IS ALOT SMALLER.
WHAT IS THE HILGENREINER LINES ?
These are lines that run through the triradiate cartilage of both hips.
WHAT IS THE PERKINS LINES ?
these run vertical from the lateral aspect of the acetabulum.
When a grid is made with a hilgenreiner and perkins lines where would a normal femoral head sit normally ?
In the inferior medial aspect of the grid.
What would the acetabular roof look like in DDH ?
The acetabular roof will be steaper.
Is DDH more common in males or females ?
Females.

First born
