GNP (gross national products - value of all goods and services produced by a country per anum)
Calories per person per day - lower in LECDs
Life expectancy
Infant mortality
Birth rate
death rate

HDI (human development index - uses a number of statistics such as life expectancy to give countries a numerical development score)
Describe differences in development between countries (IE things that make countries more or less developed).
being landlocked makes trading harder, so they are less able to make profit- EG Malawi.
diseases such as malaria make developing harder - EG in Kenya
having more extreme climates are less able to grow food, and it’s more difficult to build in.
countries where women or ethnic groups are denied political rights, tend to be less developed, EG Iran.
Countries with natural resources such as oil tend to be more developed (EG Saudi Arabia) as they make lots of money
Countries with conflicts or wars happening tend to be less developed as it’s very expensive and damaging (EG Afgansitan) so there’s less money for developing
