What is development
Development means the growth or progress that will improve people’s lives
What does GNI capita mean?
GNI capita is gross national income per person.GNI looks at the national goods and services, divided but the population and given in US$
What does HIC stand for? Give an example
High income country eg: Uk and USA
what does NEE stand for? Give an example.
Newly emerging economy eh: China and India.
What does LIC stand for? Give an example.
Low income country eg: haiti and Kenya
What does HDI mean?
Human development index. It includes life expectancy, GNI and and adult literacy to give a value between 0-1,1 being most developed
What is birth rate?
The number of babies born per thousand of population each year
What is death rate?
The number of deaths per thousand of population per year
What does infant mortality mean?
The number of babies that die before their first birthday per thousand of the population per year
What does adult literacy mean?
The percentage of people who have basic reading and writing skills
