The statistical combination of results from two or more separate studies.

It keeps going up with age - more strongly related in adolescence than when you are a baby
Why does the relationship between secure relationships and peer relations increase with time?
Trust and quality becomes more important in friendship as you get older

Few kids like or dislike you. It is like you aren’t there.

Rejected: Few kids like you, and many dislike you.
Bullied
Picked on by many kids, but doesn’t mean you are neglected or rejected. They can also be bullies themselves.

Any of above may have a few friends or be friendless; can be friendless and not any of the above

What is the difference between a cross-sectional and longitudinal study?
CS: Compares participants of different ages directly to one another at one point in time
LS: Tracks individuals who are the same age at different time points and looks for differences across those time points
Sensorimotor
Infant explores the world through direct sensory and motor contact. Object permanence and separation anxiety.
Preoperational
(2-6 stages)- Child uses symbols (words and images) to represent objects but does not reason logically. The child also has the ability to pretend. Child is egocentric
Concrete operational
Concrete operational (6-12)- Child can think logically about concrete objects and thus can add and subtract. Child understand conversation.
