Design Communication Techniques Flashcards
Oblique drawing vs axon drawing
Oblique is drawn so the plane of the object is parallel to the picture plane
Axon has all three planes of the object at an angle to the picture plane
What do VPL and LVP mean in relationship to perspective drawings
They both mean left vanishing point
4 types of information that should be included on every programming document
Clients goals and objectives, required space and area requirements, required adjacencies, specific client requirements for budget, schedule, ff&e
Orthographic projection
A way of looking at sometimes as though the viewers like if sight was perpendicular to every point on the nearest face of the object
Isometric drawing
3D view of an object that’s tilted within the picture plane, with two of the faces drawn at a 30 degree angle
Orthographic vs isometric projection
Orthographic projection - projection plane is parallel to one of the principal planes
Isometric projection - projection plane isn’t parallel to any of the principal planes and doesn’t preserve depth
Oblique drawing
A 3D drawing with one side of an object parallel to the picture plane
3 advantages of a computer model
Ability to generate many views, fly-through, and realistic renderings
Flow chart
Programming tool used to diagram a client’s sequential work progress
Whats the best type of diagram to show size and proportion of individual rooms and areas
A block plan
Schematic floor plan
Used to show accurate placement of walls, doors, equipment, etc and used to finalize space planning before construction drawings
Whats the best way to summarize and assign spaces for a project with a large area that occupies multiple floors
A spreadsheet
What type of diagram should be used to represent a design concept early on in the SD process
A parti diagram
What type of relationship could be used to functionally and perceptually link two spaces
An overlapping relationship
Three types of axonometric drawings
Isometric, dimetric, trimetric
