Design Buzzwords Flashcards
A/B Testing
also known as split testing, refers to a randomized experimentation process wherein two or more versions of a variable (web page, page element, etc.) are shown to different segments of website visitors at the same time to determine which version leaves the maximum impact and drives business metrics.
Content Management Systems
a content management system is a tool that helps you build a website without needing to write all the code from scratch (or even know how to code at all).
Design Sprint
The big idea with the Design Sprint is to build and test a prototype in just five days.
Scope
the place where we translate user needs and business objectives into specific requirements for what content and functionality the product will offer to users.
Scope creep (feature creep)
when you add excessive features to a product that make it too complicated or difficult to use. Any additional features you introduce into your product add to the complexity of your design. In turn, this can diminish the usability of your product.
Usability Acceptance Testing
application testing or end-user testing, is a phase of software development in which the software is tested in the real world by its intended audience.
User Persona
a semi-fictional character created to represent different customer types that use a company’s products or services.
User Requirements
a discovery process including conducting interviews, discussions, and document gathering for designers to understand what they need for a project and why.
User Experience
“User experience encompasses all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products.”
User Interface
user interface design is its complement; the look and feel, the presentation and interactivity of a product.
Wireframe
a layout of a product that demonstrates what interface elements will exist on key pages
User Stories
short statements about a feature, written from a user’s perspective
A well-defined user story does not spell out the exact feature, but rather what the user aims to achieve, to give agile teams the freedom to identify the best possible way to implement the feature.
