Tetonic plates are huge slabs of rock which make up continents

NZ is on the PLATE BOUNDARY between INDO-AUSTRALIAN and PACIFIC PLATES - where the plates cross over or collide eg southern alps

Means more earthquakes and volcanoes

NZ called Shakey Isles

Chch earthquake 2011 185 people died
