1-Topical corticosteroids -Oral steroids only in the most severe flares 2-Tacrolimus and pimecrolimus 3-Antihistamines: 4Antibiotics when impetigo occurs 5-UV photothperapy, for severe recalcitrant cases
Antihistamines: mild/ severe
Mild disease: nonsedating drugs (cetirizine, fexofenadine, loratadine)
Severe disease: hydroxyzine, diphenhydramine, doxepin
Contact Dermatitis
Wet compresses soaked in Burrow’s solution
(drying agent)
Topical steroids BID prn
Systemic steroids prn if extensive
Dyshidrotic Dermatitis
topical: high potency corticosteroid with plastic cling wrap occlusion to increase penetration
• intralesional triamcinolone injection
• systemic
■ prednisone in severe cases
Nummular Dermatitis
- moisturization
* mid to high potency corticosteroid ointment twice daily
Seborrheic Dermatitis face
ketoconazole and or mild steroid cream
Seborrheic Dermatitis scalp
- salicylic acid in olive oil
- 2% ketoconazole shampoo
- ciclopirox
- selenium sulfide
- zinc pyrithione
Stasis Dermatitis
compression stockings
• rest and elevate legs (above the level of the heart)
• moisturizer to treat xerosis
• mid-high potency topical corticosteroids to control inflammation
