In 1931, in Scottsboro Alabama, Ruby Bates and Victoria Price accused 9 black youths (12-19 years old), of raping them after a fight between the black youths and 2 white men. An all white jury sentenced them to death, however the Supreme Court stepped in. Although they were eventually found guilty again, they were not sentenced to death again.
Scottsboro Nine
In spring 1932, WW1 veterans from Portland Oregon marched to Washington D.C. to demand payment from the U.S. government, eventually growing to 20,000 membered
Bonus Army
Promised relief, putting millions to work, raised prices for farmers, extending conservation projects, revitalizing America’s financial systems, and the rescue of capitalism
New Deal
Created in June 1933, insured personal savings accounts up to $50,000, and detached commercial banks from investment banks to avoid risky speculation
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
Passed by congress in 1933, aimed at raising prices by reducing production
Agricultural Adjustment Act
Created in 1933 to bring low-cost electric power to rural areas and help redevelop the entire Tennessee river valley region through flood-control projects
Tennessee Valley Authority
Passed by Congress in 1933, this agency allowed business, labor, and the public to create codes to regulate production, prices, wages, hours, and collective bargaining
National Recovery Administration
Recruited unmarried men between the ages of 18-25, for a 2 year stint, putting them to work planting forests, cleaning up beaches and rivers and parks, building bridges and dams
Civilian Conservation Corps
An alliance for social change rather than revolution
Popular Front
Provided jobs for the unemployed
Works Progress Administration
The measure provided that at age 65, eligible workers would recieve retirement payments fundede by payroll taxes on employees and employers, and Also provided unmployment insurance for those temporarily laid off from work and welfare payments for the disbaled, and children of single parents
Social Security Act
Protected worker’s rights to organize labor unions without owner interference
National Labor Relations
Workers went to their work site but refused to do any work while there or leave
Sit-down Strike
Established minimum wage at 40 cents, and maximum working hours at 40 per weel.

Ultimatley hurtful to native americans

Was devised to keep congress from deciding against New Deal plans
