12
Q

how does a hypertensive crisis occur

A

tyramine is rendered ineffective so if an individual consumes a high amount of tyramine it competes with norepinephrine and displaces it. this leads to high quantities of norepinephrine. this leads to vasoconstriction leading to acute hypertension and high HR leading to an adrenergic crisis (extreme tachycardia and hypertension) leading to possible death
