Diagnostic cast
a model of the dental structure for the process of study and treatment planning
- made by taking a dental impression then filling it with plaster
Pit and Fissure Sealant
Clear plastic material used to coat and seal the pits and fissures or the biting surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from decay, usually done in children during the cavity prone years
Restorative Dentistry
- removal of decay from a tooth
- tooth is prepped to receive a material that will replace the lost tooth structure
- type of restoration material depends on location and size of restoration

- amalgam (silver)
2. resin-based composite (tooth coloured)
amalgam
- an alloy of different metals that is silver in colour and used to restore posterior teeth
- lasts 5-20 years
- inexpensive and covered by most insurance companies

-usually used on anterior teeth
