Density Flashcards
density =
mass/volume
density is measured in
kg/m^3
density of a liquid
measure the mass of the measuring cylinder in a balance, then measure it again but this time with water, and subtract the 1st number by the 2nd one, then divide the final value by the volume of water you used
density of regular shaped objects
measure the mas of the object using a balance. for the volume, you must use maths:
for a cube, V = Length ^3
for a cuboid V = L x W x H
for cylinder V = Pi x Radius^2 x Length
density of irregular shaped objects
measure the mass of the object using a balance, for the volume, you will have ti record the volume of water you are added in the measuring cylinder, then add the irregular shaped object, see the displace amount of volume, then divide the mass by the volume
the object will float,
when it is less dense then water (1g/cm^3)
the object will sink,
when it is more dense then water (1g/cm^3)
