what are the similarities between the two party systems
- two dominant parties
- third parties have some say on regional levels
what are the differences between the two party systems
- UK has a much stronger 3rd party system (72 lib dems)
- in UK, when they win, they win with a majority so can get stuff done even with opposition, not the same for US (divided government)
- 3rd party parties are really prominient in devolved places
what are the similarities between the two party’s unity
US = whole party is divided into respective branches :. not as united
UK = quite unitary in its decision making (collective responsibility)

UK = Conservative party and BREXIT, Jeremy Corbyn and New Labour, list goes on

- state interventionists
- affirmative action
- The provision of greater health care, access to education and benefits to help those who are most in need
- Labour Party made NHS, soooo yeah
- Democrats supported the Affordable Care Act and food stamps (SNAP).
how are republicans and conservatives SIMILAR in WELFARE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
- more noe-liberalist economic view
- more on individual rights rather than collective rights (and even less on minority rights SHOCKKKERRRRRR)
- stressing on antipermissiveness and indiviualism
- hate everything that their opposition does (enemies to lovers trope?)

HOWEVER republicans are nothing liek the conservatives as they are far moer right wing ( conservatives still allow NHS to run)
how are republicans and conservatives SIMILAR in ECONOMIC POLICY
- see government intervention in economy as a threat
- favour welfare reductions
- reducing taxes on the wealthy
- REDUCE MINIMUM WAGE ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!? I can’t even afford this coffee man….
how are labour and democrats SIMILAR in ECONOMIC POLICY
- governmetn intervention through keynesianism
- favour government expenditure to combat inequality
- Gordon Brown and Barack Obama attempted to stimulate the economy and protect jobs through a major increase of government expenditure.
HOWEVER how could it be seen that ‘how are labour and democrats/ republicans and conservatives are SIMILAR in ECONOMIC POLICY’ is WRONG
- New Labour/ New Democrats seem to have some common group with their counter parts (especially with Blair and his decrease in trade union help: maybe the parties will become closer together)

- resisted or opposed extension and protection of civil rights.
how are labour and democrats SIMILAR in MORAL AND SOCIAL POLICY
- Adopt a liberal approach to civil rights.
- Labour Party created the Human Rights Act 1998
- Democratic Party crafted both the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act in the 1960s.
HOWEVER how could it be seen that ‘how are labour and democrats/ republicans and conservatives are SIMILAR in MORAL AND SOCIAL POLICY’ is WRONG
- David Cameron legalised gay marriage (Nick Clegg has some explaining to do)
