Degenerative Jt disease- Spine Flashcards
What is DDD vs Facet arthrosis
disc- degeneration involving the disc
facet- degeneration of the zygapophyseal jts
Radiographic findings of DDD
- Loss of disc height
- osteophytes (ant, lat, post)
- endplate sclerosis
- Vacuum phenom
Ex of findings and dx of DDD
findings= Mild decrease disc height from L4 to L6 with osteophyte formation at all segments
Dx- Mild degenerated disc from L1 to L6
Facet arthrosis radiographic findings
Hypertrophy of articular processes
Slerosis
How to explaiin facet arthroosis findings
There is hypertrophy and sclerosis @ lvl, side facet
What is type 3 spondyloistheses due to and where is it mc
due to degenerative remoderling of facet jts and DDD
Most common at L4 and in females (F for F)
What would constitute unstable spondyloisthesis
from flex into ext there shouldnt be more than 4.5mm
in cerv it is 3.5mm
What is baastrups disease and syndrom and what is it due to
Impingemnt bw spinous processes due to increased lordosis
-results in interspinous osteoarthrosis
-causes flat ends to sp
radiographic fx of baastrups disease
sclerosis of adjacent cortices
flattening of opposing surfaces
What is an intercalary bone and where is it found
Ossification of annular fibres associated with annular fibes
ONLY in cerv spine
Uncinate arthrosis radiographic findings
-blunting and/or hypertrophy of the uncinates
How to explain uncinate arthrosis
“bilateral uncinate arthrosis at C4-5, C5-6 and C6-7, worse on right
What is the correlation between severity of IVF stenosis and symptoms of radiculopy
low
