Q

Discuss reductionism/Hollism

A

Reductionism: behaviour explained arising from simple processes. Isolate variables one at a time to establish cause and effect /researchers break down behaviour into its constituent parts and analyse the relative contribution that factor makes. Holism: human behaviour viewed as product of diff influences which all interact/idea ‘whole is greater than the sum of its parts’ and in order to understand behaviour researchers should consider how different factors at each level contribute to behaviour, rather than reduce further. should use multi factor models or case studies
