Actual worsening of the compensable condition or conditions after the last award or arrangement of compensation, which is established by medical evidence supported by objective findings ORS 656.273
Aggravation (Agg)
Primarily responsible for the treatment of a workers compensable injury ORS 656.005
Attending Physician (AP)
A Medical Doctor, Osteopathic Medicine, Podiatric physician or Oral and maxillofacial surgeon ORS 656.005
Type A Medical Provider
Chiropractic physician, physician assistant, naturopathic physician
Type B Medical Provider
A nurse authorized to provide compensable medical services under ORS 656.005
Authorized Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or (NP)
A written request for compensation from a subject worker or someone on the workers behalf, or a compensable injury of which a subject employer has notice or knowledge. ORS 656.005
Claim
When an otherwise compensable injury combines with a qualified preexisting condition to cause or prolong disability or a need for treatment 656.005
Combined Condition
A primary care physician, chiropractor or nurse practitioner who IS NOT a managed care organization (MCO) provider and who continues to treat the worker when the worker becomes enrolled in an MCO
Come-Along Provider
An accidental injury, or acc..injury to a prosthetic appl. arising out of and in the course of employment requiring medical services or resulting in disability or death…. and established by medical evidence supported by objective findings ORS 656.005
Compensable Injury
Type of condition occurs as a consequence of a compensable injury ORS 656.005
Consequential Condition
Care provided to a worker to stabilize a temporary and acute waxing and waning of symptoms ORS 656.005
Curative Care
Refers to the head of the Department of Consumer and Business Services ORS 656.005
The Director
A disabling injury entitles the worker to compensation for disability or death. An injury is NOT disabling if no temporary benefits are due and payable, unless a reasonable expectation that permanent disability will result from the injury. ORS 656.005
Disabling Injury
A surgery which may be required in the process of recovery from an injury or illness but DOES NOT need to be done as an emergency to preserve life, function or health OAR 436-035-005
Elective Surgery
A permanent loss of use or function of a body part or system related the the compensable condition OAR 436-035-0005
Impairment
The first open period on the claim immediately following the original filing of the occupational injury or disease claim until the worker is first declared medically stationary by an attending physician (AP) or (ANP)
Initial Claim
Admitted to a hospital prior to and extending past midnight for treatment and lodging OAR 436-010-0005
Inpatient
An organization formed to provide medical services OAR 436-010-0005
Managed Care Organization (MCO)
Any medical treatment or any medical, surgical, diagnostic, chiropractic, dental, hospital, nursing, ambulances and other related services and drugs, medicine, crutches and prosthetics, braces and supports and physical restorative services OAR 436-010-0005
Medical Services
No further material improvement is expected with either treatment or the passage of time ORS 656.005
Medically stationary (Med Stat)
A condition that develops after the notice of acceptance is issued. ORS 656.627
New Condition
A —— only requires medical services. ORS 656.005
Nondisabling injury (MO Claim)
Verifiable indications of injury or disease that may include but not limited to Range of motion, atrophy, muscle strength and palpable muscle spasm.
Objective Findings
Any disease or infection arising out of and in the course of employment caused by substances or activities to which an employee is not ordinarily subjected to exposed other than during a period of regular actual employment therein and which requires medical services or results in disability or death. ORS 656.005
Occupational Disease (OD)
A condition that was present at the time the notice of acceptance was issued but was omitted from the notice. ORS 656.627
Omitted Condition
Medical service rendered to reduce or moderate temporarily the intensity of an otherwise stable medical condition but does not include medical services rendered to diagnose, heal, or permanently alleviate or eliminate a medical condition. ORS 656.005
Palliative Care
The permanent loss of use or function of a body part or system……or permanent impairment and work disability resulting from the compensable injury or occupational disease.
Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)
A worker permanently incapacitated from regularly performing work in a suitable and gainful occupation. OAR 436-030-0055
Permanent Total Disability (PTD)
a qualifying preexisting condition is one where the worker has received prior medical treatment for the condition, was diagnosed with the condition prior to the injury or is diagnosed as arthritis or an arthritic condition
Qualifying preexisting condition
An employer who is subject the the workers compensation laws found in ORS 656.
Subject employer
A worker who is subject to the workers’ comp laws found in ORS 656
Subject worker
When the worker is capable of returning to some form of work but may be limited in the number of hours, or the type of work performed. ORS 656.212
Temporary Partial Disability (TPD)
When the worker is temporarily unable to return to any employment. ORS 656.210
Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
Refers to the three consecutive calendar days beginning with the first day the worker loses time or wages from work as a result of the compensable injury. OAR 436-060-0019
Three-Day wait (3DW)
The separate factoring of impairment as modified by age, education and adaptability to perform the job at which the worker was injured. OAR 436-035-0005
