Communication software
Software that allows electronic communication such as email, web browsing, I RC, instant messaging and VoIP
Export
A way of saving a fall in a format readable by software created by different company/by a different version of the same software.
Import
A way of opening a file created in a program by different company/a different version of the same software.
Multimedia
Something that involves more than one medium, usually a combination of text, sound, images, drawing, animations and movies.
Patch
An update to software intended to fix bugs in the software
Service pack
A collection of software updates over the past period of time put into one big unit for easier installation. They may be sold in boxed form in shops for people without Internet access.
Update
Usually a patch to fix bugs, all the additional of a minor new features to your software
Speech recognition
Software that listens to what you say and understands it is a command or turns it into text instead of typing
Text to speech
Software that takes text and read it out loud via the computer sound system.
Upgrade
Usually a change in the major Version number of the software, which means installing a new program with major changes/new features. Upgrades usually have to be paid for, the users that have the previous version can get a discount.
Web applications/ online software
A program that runs on a server on the Internet. You access it through your browser.
App Store
An online store that sells software for use on smart phones and consumer tablets. Such a store greatly something on the Fosse buying installing and updating software.
Hidden attribute
A setting in the properties of a file that means it will not normally display when viewing the contents of the folder it is in
Read only attribute
Is setting in the properties of a file that means that the file can only be rude but not written to.
System requirements
The minimum requirements (such as storage space, processing power and memory) needed to be able to install and run a piece of software.
