Definitions Flashcards
Paranasal sinuses
an air-filled extension of the nasal cavity which is lined ith mucous membrane and include (4) the frontal sinus, ethmoid, sphenoid, and maxillary
location of the subarachnoid space
between the meningeal layer of the dura mater and the arachnoid space, filled with CSF
Meninges that only extends to the skull
periosteal layer of the dura mater
layer of the meninges which extends down to the spinal cord
the meningeal layer of the dura mater
Dural venous sinuses
sinuses of the brain between the layers of the dura mater and receive blood from internal vessels and CSF from the subarchanoid space which meet up at the confluence of sinuses in the brain and empty into the internal jugular vein, these sinuses include the cavernous sinus which can receive blood from the valveless facial vein (danger triangle which runs from the upper lip to the ridge of the nose)
Ventricles of the brain
a network of CSF filled communicating cavities inside the brain, each contains a choroid plexus (cells which produce CSF)
Nerve Supply to Gluteal region
Dorsal plexus: L1-L4 (ventral rami)
Sacral Plexus: S1-S4 (sacral rami)
