Define Tumour
Abnormal growth of tissue, resulting from uncontrolled progressive multiplication of cells, that serves no physiological function.
Neoplasm
An abnormal mass of cells that exhibit uncontrolled proliferation, persists after cessation of stimuli that produced it.
Cancer
Uncontrolled proliferation of cells that express varying degrees of fidelity to their precursor.
Oncogensis
The process initiating and promoting the development of a neoplasm through the action of biologic, chemical or physical agents.
Pathogensis
The production and development of disease.
Oncogene
Result from mutation and activation of proto-oncogenes, and cause a transformation of normal cells into cancerous cells.
Proto-oncogenes
Normall cells that are involved in the regulation of apoptosis and cell division.
Mutation
Change in genetic sequence.
Mutagen
Is a substance, preparation or other factor, that is capable of producing mutation.
