definitions 2 Flashcards
Coherence?
Two sources which emit waves with the same phase difference and have the same frequency. They also have a constant phase difference as they pass a point.
Commutator?
A switching mechanism which reverses the connections to the coil of an electric motor to maintain its direction of rotation.
Component of a vector?
One of the two vectors (in a perpendicular direction) into which a vector may be split.
Compression?
Squashing forces where two forces act in opposing directions towards each other to make an object compress along the line of action of the forces.
Conductor (electrical)
A material which conducts electricity well due to having many free charge carriers.
Conservation of energy
During any interaction, the total energy before and total energy after are always equal.
