Adopts someone else’s values and standards without reason, without exploring whether they fit him/her

Blaming others for own fault
Projection
Not blaming others but gives acceptable reason
Rationalization
Person behaves the opposite of the way he feels
Reaction Formation
Returning to earlier stages of development when under stress
Regression
Unconsciously blocking out painful or acceptable thoughts/feelings; trying to forget and very painful
Repression
Transform unacceptable needs to acceptable ambitions or actions
Sublimation
Tries to undo the harm he feels he has done to others
