Ethics is about right and wrong and doing what is right
Consider your obligation to act
What are the issues? What are the facts?
Weight the options, including ethical principles and obligations
Choose the best option with due consideration for:
Rules
Values
Consequences
Care for Others
If unsure, talk to others, those you trust: friends, superiors, or authorities. Someone is prepared to listen and help
You must accept responsibility for your actions
Ethical Dilemmas 3
Uncertainty Dilemma: the right thing to do is not clear
Competing Values Dilemma: two or more core obligations are in conflict
Harm Dilemma: every option causes harm or injury
How Leaders Foster an Ethical Environment:
Make expectations very clear
Provide opportunities to discuss ethical concerns
Do what is necessary to deal with ethical risks
Ensure confidentiality and a reprisal free environment
