Deep muscles of the forearm Flashcards
What are the deep muscles of the posterior forearm?
Abductor pollicis longus Extensor pollicis brevis extensor pollicis longus extensor indicis supinator
What are the attachments of Abductor pollicis longus?
radius, interosseous membrane, ulna to base of first metacarpal
What is the action of abductor pollicis longus?
abduction of thumb
What are the attachments of extensor pollicis brevis?
radius and interosseous membrane to base o proximal phalanx of thumb
what is the action of extensor pollicis brevis?
assist in extension of thumb
What are the attachments Extensor pollicis longus?
interosseus membrane, part of the ulna, tendon proceeding around dorsal radial tubercle to base of distal phalanx of thumb.
What is the action of Extensor pollicis longus?
assist in extension of thumb
What are the attachments of Extensor indices M?
interosseus membrane and ulna in distal forearm to common extensor tendon in 2nd digit
What is the action of Extensor indices M?
separate extension of index finger
What are the attachments of Supinator M?
small origin of ulna wraps around radius to proximal radius
What is the action of supinator?
supinates forearm from pronation position always active in supination
What are the anterior borders of the snuff box?
- tendons of of abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis
what is the posterior border of the snuff box?
tendon of extensor pollicis longus
What courses superficial to the snuff box?
radial N
What is deep inside the snuff box?
radial artery before it goes to the dorsal hand
