What are Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)?
Chemicals, compounds, and other materials that may pose health hazards to workers; synonym for Dangerous Goods.
What is Inflight Recurrent Training (IRT)?
A training program mandated by the FAA, which all FAs must complete annually, containing ground school and hands-on training.
What is a Jumpseat?
A seat on the aircraft designated for qualified crew members.
What does Layover mean?
To stay over at a station or city other than your home base.
What is the Mitsubishi MHI-RJ?
A pressurized regional jet by Mitsubishi, formerly known as Bombardier Regional Jet.
What does MT stand for?
Missed Trip (See No-Show).
What does NAF mean?
Not available for flight, coded for no-show pending base manager review. NAF can become a Missed Trip.
What is the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)?
Lead organization that investigates airline accidents and makes recommendations to the FAA.
What is Non-Revenue Space (NRSA)?
Airline employees and/or eligible family members who are traveling on stand-by status and have paid service fees for their tickets.
What is the Operations Control Center (OCC)?
Department which includes Maintenance and Crew Routing, Meteorology, Dispatch, and Crew Coordinators.
What is Occupational Safety and Health Association?
The OSHA Act sets and enforces protective workplace safety and health standards.
What is Per Diem?
Meal expense allowance determined by the total number of hours you are away from your home base.
