Q

What is reason for
- decline in birth
- decline in infant mortality rates
- increase in life expectancy

  • in exam you can use these 3 reason for death, infant and life expectancy.
A
  1. improved nutrition - Mckeowan - argues the improvements in nutrition ( healthier diets) halved death rates, particularly from tb as it increased resistance to infection and survival rates.
evaluation = however women tend to receive less nutrition as they get smaller share of family food yet live longer.
  2. smoking and diet - Harper = there is now a greater awareness of the dangers of smoking and unhealthy diet. this is result of gov campaigns and new laws which helped people to quit smoking and encourage them eat healthy and exercises more so this makes us live longer.
criticism : there are new forms of smoking such as vape pens and elf bars which contain nicotine and these damage our health.

public health measures : since the end of ww2 gov have been putting in a variety of public health measures to improve living standards such as indoor toilets, bathrooms and safe drinking waters. these measures improve hygiene and living standards which makes us healthier and live longer.
