  • Death is seen as positive and a resolution for Romeo and Juliet.
  • It is seen to reunite them.

  • This quote is Romeo saying he might as well be dead as being banished causes him too much pain as it makes it even harder for him to be with Juliet.

  • Death is viewed as positive compared to banishment. Romeo believes death is “merciful” he thinks it would be kinder to kill him rather than have him banished.
