Define deadly force:
Force that a person uses causing or that a person knows or should know would create a substantial risk of causing, death or serious bodily harm
When firing a weapon are warning shots allowed?
No, warning shots are prohibited
What are the three components of the deadly force triangle?
COI – capability, opportunity, intent
What are the six steps/use of force options in regards to the escalation of force?
Presence, verbal & visual warnings, soft physical pressure, hard physical pressure, non lethal weapons, lethal weapons
What is the purpose of Standing Rules of Engagement (SROE)?
To provide implementation guidance on the application of force for mission accomplishment and the exercise of self defense
Under LOAC, what is a combatant?
All persons in uniform, carrying a weapon or participating in any way in military operations or activities
Under LOAC, what is non-combatant?
Civilians, medical personnel, and chaplains
What is the purpose of fire control commands?
Used to initiate, control, and synchronize fires
What are the four fire control commands?
Open fire, cease fire, check fire, response to commands
What is the purpose of response to fire commands?
To limit errors in transmission, the person receiving the commands repeats each element as it is received
