What is another way of saying QUALITATIVE variable?
CATEGORICAL variable
What does QUALITATIVE variable mean?
A VARIABLE that has DISTINCT categories based on CHARACTERISTICS/attributes.
E.g gender
What is Quantitive data?
Numerical DATA which can be ORDERED/ranked.
E.g. Weight.
Define NOMINAL variable.
Variable that classifies data into non-overlapping distinctive exhaustive CATEGORIES with which you CANNOT impose a RANKING system
Define ORDINAL variable.
A VARIABLE that classifies DATA into CATEGORIES that CAN be RANKED.
But Ranks don’t define PRECISE differences.
Define DISCRETE variables.
VARIABLES that can be COUNTED.
Eg. Number of kids in school.
Define CONTINUOUS Variables.
VARIABLES of which VALUES are obtained by MEASURING.
How do you work out the MEAN?
