Before shunting, what must you ensure?
-Authority
-Fully understand the method of working at the location concerned
-Have reached a clear understanding with the person in charge as to what is it to be done
-Understand how the shunt movement is to be controlled
What does the person in charge of the movement need to make sure?
-Vehicles are safe to be moved
-No vehicles standing foul
-Road vehicles clear of the sidings
-Warn anyone nearby to get to a position of safety
-Facing points are set correctly
-Scotch blocks or derailers have been removed
What do you ensure during shunt movements? E.g speeds/sheds etc
-5mph
-Before entering any shed or building, driver must STOP, sound horn and have authority
Speed through a washer?
3MPH
What must you ensure after shunting is completed?
-Train is secure
-Correct train illumination
-Train not standing foul or running lines or other sidings
-If coming onto other stock, stop 2 metres away
Train illimination at bufferstops (draw on board)
Who can use the overhead trolley equipment?
Anyone who is trained and passed as competent only
