a traditional story that attempts the explain how the world was created or why the way it is. Stories that are passed on from generation to generation and are of unknown authorship
Myth
any writing that tells a story. most novels and short stories are placed into the categories of 1-person and 3-person _____, which are based on who is telling the story and from what perspective.
Narrative
poetry that tells a story. Can come in many forms and styles, both complex and simple, short or long, as long as it tells a story. Contains characters, settings, and plots
Narrative Poetry
The person who tells the story; establishes the point of view
Narrator
one who gives his/her own understanding of a story, instead of the explanation and interpretation the author wishes the audience to obtain. This type of action tends to alter that audience’s opinion of the conclusion
Unreliable Narrator
Is prose writing that presents and explains ideas or tells about people, places, objects, or events. IE. biography, essays, newspaper articles
Nonfiction
work of fiton that is longer and more complex than a short story. Setting, plot, and characters are usually developed in great detail
