UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
The Data Protection Act 2018 is the UK’s implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which originated in the EU
The GDPR states that a child can consent to data processing at age 16, whilst the DPA sets this at 13.
The GDPR allows the regulator to fine non-compliant companies up to 4% of global turnover. Under the DPA, the largest fine allowed was £500,000
