Data Measurement and Classification (Data Presentation and Analysis) Flashcards
1
Q
Nominal
A
Categorical data, classifies into numbers, letters, or text strings
Qualitative-no mathematical operations can be performed only equality or inequality can be determined
2
Q
Ordinal
A
Rank, Least to most or most to least. Weakly quantitative
Magnitude of difference is unknown
3
Q
Interval
A
Numerical scales in which intervals are known and have the same interpretation throughout
4
Q
Ratio
A
Same as interval, but magnitude of distance is absolute, with a known and meaning starting point of zero such as kelvin degree, quantitative- permits most sophisticated statistical tests, more common than interval data
