Data Classification Flashcards
Nominal Level or Measurement
Data at this level are only qualitative.
Categorized using names, labels or qualities.
No mathematical computations can be made at this level.
They represent a label like numbers used in someone’s Sin number or numbers of a jersey.
Ordinal Level of Measurment
Data at this level can be either qualitative or quantitative.
Data at this level can be arranged in order, or ranked but difference between data entries are not meaningful.
Interval Level of Measurement
Data that can be ordered and meaningful differences between data entries can be calculated.
Ratio Level of Measurement
Similar to data at interval level with the added property that a zero enters is an inherent zero.
A ratio of 2 data entries can be be formed so that one data entry can be meaningfully expressed as a multiple of another.
Qualitative Data
Consists of attributes, labels or non numerical entries.
Quantitative Data
Consist of numbers that are measurements or counts.
